103 and 576 Squadrons + No.13 Base

President - Fred Spencer

Hon. Vice President - Robin Lingard

Chairman - Paul Mellor (e-Mail: Chair@elshamwolds.org.uk)

The RAF Elsham Wolds Association was formed in the late 1970s and has been in existence continually ever since, in various incarnations.

The Aims of the Association are :

   -        To remember and commemorate all those who served with 103 and 576 Squadrons or were based at RAF Elsham Wolds;

   -        To organise and arrange an annual Reunion/ Commemoration weekend and Remembrance Day Service;

   -        To foster and maintain contact between veterans, members and other individuals or groups with a shared interest.

A Reunion is held on the last weekend in August each year, which generally coincides with the English Late Summer Bank Holiday.  Over recent years, events have centred on Elsham village (where the street signs bear the two Squadron crests, as a reminder of the past), with the popular Saturday evening Reunion Dinner occaisionally held at Elsham Golf Club

A Service of Remembrance is held annually in November, usually at Elsham Parish Church, followed by a wreath laying at the Memorial Garden, on the site of the former aerodrome.

The Association is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Memorial and Memorial Garden and also the Memorial Rooms which are situated next to the Garden. The Rooms and garden area are kindly loaned to the Association by Anglian Water on whose site the Memorial is located.

Membership is open to all those who were members of 103 and 576 Squadrons or served at Elsham Wolds (e.g. as part of No. 13 Base), members of their families or others with an interest in perpetuating the memory of those who served.  Subscriptions currently cost £20 per annum for both UK and overseas members and the membership year runs from the end of each August.  Applications for Membership should be made to The Treasurer by e-mail, with details of your interest, as detailed below.

In addition to the principal Office Bearers detailed at the top of this page, other Committee Members include a Secretary (post currently vacant), our Treasurer, David Waldron (currently addressing Membership matters), and Keith Macrae, Editor and Webmaster, who produces the Association Newsletter three times each year.

Any Newsletter contributions or Website enquiries should be addressed to: Editor@elshamwolds.org.uk
